CLASSES
OFFERED
Tae-Kwon-Do
This is a Korean Style of Martial Arts. It comprises both self-defense
and sport.
Tae-Kwon-Do is known for its devastating kicks. Students practice a lot
of kicking drills to
strengthen their legs and develop a lot of kicking power. In this class
students are also
taught hand techniques, take-downs, joint-locks, and grappling from
Hapkido, Judo, and Jujitsu. Students also learn traditional forms (kata)
and philosophy of the Martial Arts. Special emphasis is put on the importance
of studying the Martial Arts (self-defense, self-discipline, self-control,
respect, physical and mental toughness).
TOURNAMENT TEAM
With Tae-Kwon-Do being an Olympic sport, the school is very focused on
giving its
tournament team the best training possible. There is a lot of training
aimed at
strengthening, conditioning, and improving technique. The team has excelled
in many
tournaments, locally and nationally. The goal of the school is to produce
a National
Champion or an Olympian at one point.
KOBUDO
Traditional Martial Arts weapons. This is not offered as a separate class,
it is
integrated in our Tae-Kwon-Do program. This class is a reward for higher
belts and sticking with Tae-Kwon-Do for a long time. It gives them a chance
to learn something different from what they have been using to in the past.
AEROBIC KICK-BOXING
This class is mainly meant for teenagers and adults. It is aimed at getting
people
into shape regardless of their current form. The workouts are designed
to target the cardio
vascular system, physical conditioning and strengthening, muscle toning,
balance, and
coordination. It involves a lot of hand and foot combinations for the cardio,
and variety
of strengthening, condition, and toning exercises. Classes are run in a very friendly
manner to ensure that nobody is left behind. New members are encouraged
to start at
their own pace and increase their intensity as time progresses. As classes
are in progress,
experienced members monitor the progress of new members to make sure they
are
coping with the exercises and also feeling at home.
New members can join any time, and can even try several classes to see
whether
they like it. Anybody willing to join this class is encouraged to check
with his/her
physician to see whether it is ok for him/her.
TIGER TOTS
There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the Martial Arts.
This class gives children a chance to get started in Martial Arts at an
early age. It is the best present one
can give to his/her child. The instructors are well trained in teaching children this young. Children will learn basic moves, basic self-defense (simplified for their age),
stranger-danger awareness, obedience, honesty, and socializing skills.
They will also play games and have fun. Kids ages 4 & 5.
WOMEN'S SELF-DEFENSE
Self-Defense classes are designed for civilians to learn fundamental and
effective self-defense techniques. These are intensive and effective classes
that can provide you with the skills to effectively defend yourself in
many situations. All classes are hands on and you will get to practice
the techniques as well as feel them first hand.
Participation in self-defense classes encourages you to think in terms
of options and choices, develops your awareness and assertiveness skills
and provide practice for physical self-defense techniques. A good self-defense
class will expand the way you think about violence prevention, help you
deal with your fears and enable you to feel more empowered in your life.
What would you do if a man tried to grab you from behind???
With the right body position and trianing, even a small women can overcome
an attacker.

DAY CLASS
This class is the same as the TAE-KWON-DO class but will meet one day a
week during the day. It's open to kids ages 6 and up. New students can
join at any time and even try a class to see whether they like it. This
class is open to anybody who might not have time to attend classes in the
evenings. Thursdays 2:00 - 3:00pm
PILATES & AEROBICS
Classes began October 8th
Classes are $4.00 each and punch cards with ten classes are available.

ADULT CLASS
The Adult class is on Mondays 7:45pm - 8:30pm and Wednesdays 7:30pm -
8:15pm
