MISSION STATEMENT
While it is very important to have a big school, because this means more
income, I am not prepared to sacrifice quality to achieve this goal.
Unfortunately, Martial Arts schools have become a business just like any
other, and in the process, many have watered down lessons to accomodate
numbers.
The Martial Arts business is very hard to regulate since there are so many
different styles and schools each with different ways of ranking its members.
This makes it very difficult for consumers to tell who is a good instuctor
or which one is a good school.
For parents looking for schools for their kids, I would advise them to
first identify what they want for their kids. After that, they should try
to set up appointments with several instructors to see which one would
meet their requirements. During the interviews, they should not just focus
on what ranks the instructors hold because although this is important there
are many other factors to be considered. These include the instructors
experience in Martial Arts and teaching and the reputation of the instuctor
and students in the community. They could also interview parents who have
kids in the schools to answer more of their questions.
My school accepts both children and adults but my main focus is on the
kids. This is because as they grow they need skills to prepare them for
whatever challenges might lie ahead. My school is not just about kicking
and punching-it is about converting students into modern day warriors and
good human beings at the same time. I try to accomplish this by teaching
them good fighting skills while also stressing that they should only use
them if they have to and if that moment comes, they should do it without
fear. I remind parents and students that safety in my school is a high
priority, although it cannot be guaranteed because there is alot of physical
contact in training.
I am not claiming to be the best instructor or toughtest guy around, but
I try my best to offer high quality lessons to my students and let my record
talk for itself.
Children are like clay, we can mold them into the shape we want, they are
flexible, we can bend them to the extent we want and that is what I am
trying to accomplish.
